This is the first in what I hope will be a series of posts on military history with some sort of relationship to Kentucky.  I will focus on sites to visit in Kentucky that have a military history connection.

Our first post is on Captain Jack Jouett.  Captain Jouett is known as the “Paul Revere of the South”.  In 1781 he rode 40 miles to warn Thomas Jefferson and the Virgina legislature of the approach of British troops.  After the Revolutionary War Captain Jouett migrated to Versailles, KY where he established a farm and raised a family.  The Jouett house exists today and is open for tours.  You can learn more about it at the website here.
