Magazine review: Scale Aircraft Modelling Vol.32 #2 (Apr. 2010)

SAM is the modeling magazine that I’ve been getting the longest.  I got my first issue in 1982 or so.  I have a pretty much complete set, dating back to the first issue.  While it isn’t the magazine it once was, I have trouble not getting it.

The magazine has had a new look for about a year.  It is OK, and is more readable, though I am not sure about the quality of the content.

In this issue, there are reviews of 72nd scale UC-64, A-6 and Pe-2.  The main article is on the Sunderland and has a number of nice color profiles.  It is a decent issue, but the content is “thin” enough that I can finish an issue in about an hour or so.  I wish SAM has mose more “meat” to the issues.

  1. David, ditto on SAM (and SAMI for that matter). I stocked up on a bunch of issues from the past 2 years or so for 99 cents each and passed on renewing my subscription to SAM due to “meh” content and value for dollars spend. tell you what I miss MAP/MMP…that was a nifty magazine but it’s too bad it went under. I still use my old issues quite a bit. I guess that means I am just stcuk building my old kits, eh? LOL!
