Ted Turner, global idiot

See the news report here.  When you find that authoritarian communist regimes are agreeing with what you advocate, it might be time to rethink your position.  Then again, I suspect Mr. Turner would feel right at home in such a regime, as long as he isn’t required to live by the rules he sets for the little people.

Happy Festivus

Happy Festivus

As is traditional here, I wish everyone a happy Festivus season.  On to the airing of grievances!

See this article to note that Festivus celebrations are spreading, especially among those incarcerated.

More Kelo madness

Under the awful Supreme Ct. Kelo decision, governments were given the green light to seize private property and then transfer it to others, rather than just seizing property for public projects like roads, bridges and airports.

New York gives us the latest example of how this awful decision works in favor of the powerful and well-connected and against the ordinary taxpayer.  Read here.

Megan Mcardle has an absolutely spot on analysis of why this sucks.  Read here.

I love to see politicians who flip-flop when they see that the wind has shifted.  Here is a great example.  This guy should be run out on a rail for having proposed the ban in the first place.

The story is here.  I can’t believe you can’t throw a newspaper into a public trash can without getting fined.  Insane.

ADDITION:Here is another example.

This story is one that I read and as a lawyer, I want to know more.  The facts, as stated are pretty odd.  Sometimes, in reporting on legal issues, reporters sometimes leave out important bits of information, either because they want to slant a story in a certain manner or they sometimes don’t realize the imporatance of certain legal issues.  As presented, the story is pretty odd.

Here is a great article by Radley Balko on the war on photography and the legal issues created by the explosion in recording devices possessed by almost everyone.

The full story is here.  We can’t even print money correctly?  This just makes the federal government look more incompetent, as if that was possible.
