Apparently it happens in New Hampshire as well. Story here. Interestingly, here is an app for the EVO for recording the police.

Scott King’s BT-1
Scott “Skippy” King has been working on the Valom BT-1. This is a dog of a kit and as usual, Skippy is turning it into a masterpiece. Photos below.

Columbus Pt.2
Here are more shots from Columbus. Again I apologize for the photo quality since I was using my EVO phone to take the photos.
Here is one that is in my hall of shame. The Ar-234 night fighter version.
I don’t think I’ve ever seen one of these built up. The MPM Blenheim I.
A really nice Yak-9. This one was an award winner.
This Hasegawa Nell was a 1st place award winner.
Finally, a model that you are not going to see built up anywhere else. A Fairey Hendon from the Contrail vacform kit.
This model illustrates the major flaw in the current IPMS judging system. It was a beautiful model. Yet, it won no award. The IPMS system gives no credit for “difficulty” and thus this modeler who did much more work than any of the three award winners, all built from very current model kits, received no recognition for a fine model built from a very crude vacform. That is a shame.

Columbus Pt. 1
Some of us MMCL guys were able to travel up to Columbus for the 2011 version of Blizzardcon. Fortunately this year, Blizzardcon didn’t live up to its name. Temps were in the 50s. Unfortunately, the venue was the same as usual. This cave is the worst venue for a contest currently in the contest circuit. This doesn’t seem to hurt the contest. This year they had over 600 models.
Here is the MMCL crew at the local Hooters for lunch.
Mark Smith from northern Ohio was there. In addition to his Taube, which was featured on the blog in the report on the Cincinnati show last year, Mr. Smith brought a beautiful DVII
I forgot my Olympus E-500 so all the photos were taken with my new EVO. The camera is excellent. However, my natural hand shake shows up in some of the photos. My apologies.
Speaking of Mr. Smith, here is his Spanish Italian Harrier was great and I had the unfortunate luck to be entered in the same category with my Revell Hunter.
In 72nd scale single engine prop there was an aircraft you don’t see often. Here is a Caudron C.714 in French markings. I didn’t get a good photo of it.
I’ll be posting more photos tomorrow.

Good news on the photography front
The Atlanta PD now understand. I hope this becomes standard across the nation.

February MMCL meeting
Unlike the January meeting which occurred the same night as a major snowstorm, the Feburary meeting was held in near tropical temps. The meeting was also much better attended. There were at least 24 members in attendance with several new members.
Here are some random shots from the meeting.
Doc’s Se-5
Terry Hill’s latest dio.

Police misconduct
I don’t think this sort of thing is common, but I think its more common than most people would like to believe.
And behavior like this only makes me believe that the statement above is true.

F4F-3
Here is a shot of the Hasegawa F4F-4 that I have backdated to an F4F-3 for the MMCL Yellow Wings group build. I hope to have more shots to come.
