The Aviation in Japan site has a very nice review/history/summary of the J2M3 Jack kits that have been available in 72nd scale.  Stop by and take a look here.  If you have any interest in Japanese WWII aircraft, this is a must-read site.

I finished this one months ago, but for some reason I never posted photos of the finished model.

It is the 72nd Fine Molds kit.  It was pretty easy and a fun build.

Magazine review: Model Aircraft Monthly Vol.10 #8 (August 2010)

Model Aircraft Monthly continues to return to its former glory.  It still isn’t what it was under the previous editor prior to the name change, but it gets better every issue.

This issue has a lot for the 72nd scale modeler.  The feature article is on the P-3 and there are 2 72nd scale builds of the Hasegawa kit.  There is also a build converting an S.81 into an S.73 airliner in 72nd scale as well as a 72nd scale build of a resin C-123.

There is a feature article on the Battle of the Coral Sea with color side-view drawings of numerous aircraft that participated in the battle.  While not perfect, this is currently the best of the commercial modeling magazines.

Movie review: The Expendables (2010)

Have you ever watched a movie so bad that you felt brain cells dying as you watched?  The Expendables was so bad I lost 15 or 20 IQ points and I didn’t have that much to spare.  I’d do a longer review but I don’t want to waste any more of my life on this movie.  Suffice it to say, bad dialogue, bad direction.  The only redeeming value for me was the HU-16 Albatross in the movie.  Even the scenes with the Albatross weren’t enough to justify sitting thru this crap.

If you needed proof that speed enforcement, especially on highways isn’t about keeping people’s speed low, but is about raising revenue, then read this story.  I hope that the suit succeeds and that the police stop this practice.

Kentucky Collection law news

I meant to get to this recent Kentucky case which holds that violations of the bankruptcy discharge has to be address in a motion in the main bankruptcy case and that any FDCPA claim for attempting to collect a discharged debt must be pursued by a separate action rather than in the bankruptcy court.

Read the very well written opinion here.
