Movie review: Waterloo (1970)

Filed under: General — dknights @ 11:19 am

This was a big budget movie trying to tell the story of the Battle of Waterloo.  It was a box office disappointment, and watching it, I can see why.  While the battle scenes are impressive, the story is awful.  Even for those with some knowledge of the battle and the story around it, the movie doesn’t make much sense.  It does have some high powered stars, Rod Steiger, Christopher Plummer, Orson Wells.  They are all great actors, but without an intelligent script, they are just floundering around the screen.

I don’t hate that I spent the time to see the movie, but you can safely take a pass knowning that you haven’t missed anything important in movie history.
