The Military Police
I’ve noted this trend before. Here are two examples of small town police forces with military grade heavy equipment. The police and the public are being pulled further apart. This doesn’t help.

Space news
I think there is less to this story than meets the eye, but it still points out why we need our own manned space program.

Haslam’s
Though it took me almost 15 years to do so (it’s a long story), I finally got to go to what is billed as the largest bookstore in Florida. Haslam’s (I do note that as of this posting, their website doesn’t seem to ahve been updated in a month or two.) It was a very nice, well organized mostly used bookstore. I was hoping to find some bargins, but most books, even the used ones were priced at current retail. They did have a particularly good Florida section, as you might expect.
