Russian Military collapse

I’ve been saying this for a number of years.  Russia wants to be a superpower, but it doesn’t have the money to do so.  That is why I said the other day on Facebook that I doubted that the Russians would really follow thru on plans to build 36 new Tu-160s.  They can’t afford them.

Date: 1/25/2018 & 1/27/2018

Time 6:50 p.m. to 7:40 a.m. (.84 hrs.) & 9:30 p.m. to 11:05 p.m. (1.58 hrs.)

2018 Total time: 11.82 hrs.

Photos.  Finally we have some photos.  Even thought the Platz T-33 I am building is for a display case, I am taking some time detailing the cockpit.  The reason I am doing it is I wanted to take the opportunity to try out some new techniques, and this is perfect, since I don’t care how the cockpit turns out on this one.  I used Mr. Color RLM 66 to paint the cockpit.  This is the first time I’ve used this paint since it isn’t readily available here.  I must admit it sprayed well, and it was very durable.  I used a dot filter over the cockpit color to break up the monotone.  It worked out quite nice, though the bright yellow I used as one of the colors was a bit stronger than I would have thought.  I then used Roy Sutherland’s Future wash technique on the cockpit.  I didn’t add enough pigment in retrospect, but I think the way the technique works and will use it in the future. (pun intended).  Here is a crappy cell phone photo of the finished product.

I also began work on a Trumpeter T-34/85.  I want to do a Bay of Pigs Cuban T-34/85 to go with the SS-4 I completed earlier.  I have just started the kit.

Next post will contain some depressing analysis of my chances of completing 5 kits this year.

BPK is producing a Pilatus PC-6 Turbo Porter.  If you’ve always wanted to do an Air America Turbo Porter, now it will be possible.

This is outrageous

Story here.  The Indonesian government needs to actively pursue those who desecrate these sites.  Frankly, the US Navy should be authorized to attack and sink any vessel involved in such activity.

Military deployed to fight crime in Montego Bay

The Jamaican Defense Forces (the equivalent of the Jamaican Army) have been deployed to the resort town of Montego Bay and the surrounding St. James parish.  This is an effort to reduce crime, especially murders, that have spiked in the parish over the last year.  While crime has always been a problem in the southern part of the island, the tourist area in the northern half has typically been very safe.

This is a sad development sure to hurt the tourist trade that the island depends on.  Story here.
