Scrapping A380s

Story here.  I will pat myself on the back here.  I thought at the time that the Boeing bet on the 787 was better than what Airbus was doing with the A380.

Looks like Airbus is backing off the threat to stop production of the A380.  This article claims the aircraft will hit the break even point in sales this year.  I don’t believe it.  I think that the fact they even floated the idea of terminating production tells you that the aircraft isn’t profitable.  You don’t see Boeing talking about ending 747 production.

More wing cracks have been discovered and now the entire A380 fleet is undergoing inspection.  I suspect that the Boeing 747 sales team is about to have an order bonanza.
