Boeing’s transonic wing

Boeing is working on a “transonic wing” that will allow airliners to fly close to, but not exceed the speed of sound.  This would cut some longer flight travel times by a significant amount, at a much lower cost than a supersonic airliner.

Death of an American hero

Herb Kelleher died yesterday at 87.  He was a lawyer and most importantly the founder of Southwest Airlines. He was a titan among american businessmen.  I had the pleasure of meeting him on two occasions and the adoration of his employees was nothing short of amazing.

This report seems to indicate that Boeing screwed up. Not sure how you could install a new safety system and not brief pilots on the change.  I wonder if there is more to the story.

Southwest airlines has taken delivery of their last 737-800.  From here forward all new aircraft will be 737 Max aircraft.

Proving once again that we live in the golden age of modeling, news comes that their will be an injection molded kit of the Scottish Aviation Twin Pioneer.  I was surprised to learn that so many civil operators operated this aircraft.
