Since Mr. Bates has embarassed me by getting his photos posted before I did, he has posted photos of many of the 72nd entries that I would have posted.  If you haven’t seen his blog, go on over.

The Cincinnati Model show was on Oct. 1st.  As usual, it was a really good time.  I’ll post photos from it soon, but in the meantime, enjoy Jim Bates report here.

Also, this is what happens when you stay up all night finishing a model.

Spent Saturday at the annual Cincinnati model show.  One of the great things is that this show is consistently good.  The Cinci guys have found a winning formula and stick with it.  This year the show had 92 people enter a total of 355 models.  Several Louisville guys received awards, including Dennis Sparks, Scott King and Rob Schneider.  Congrats to all the winners.

The show was a special treat for me since I was able to hook up with Jim Bates, the modeling machine from Ohio and his lovely wife.  Jim brought his latest “in-progress” items that I am sure we will see on the contest tables soon.

It seemed to me that folks were spending less at the vendors and I know a couple of vendors were no-shows.  I think this is due to the economy.  I thin the economic uncertainty has hit the hobby and people are pulling back and waiting to see what happens.

On to the photos.

On Halloween I attended to model show put on by the Cincinnati chapter of IPMS.  The  unusual date, on Halloween, was necessitated by the venue pulling Cinci’s original date (Oct. 24) at the last minute.  Don Flynn and company did an excellent job of last minute rescheduling.  I was worried that the date change and the bad economy would cause a problem.  Turns out there was nothing to worry about.

I got to exhange some beers with Ohio attorney Jim Bates.  I also vended and got to talk with a bunch of folks.  Great time.

Now for the photos.

The show was a great success.  Don reports a large number of entrants and a very large number of  walk-in.  A vigorous Make and Take program was held and it was very popular.  The Cinci show has really grown and it is one of the must attend shows in region 4.  See you there next year.
