Space Radishes

Radishes have been grown and consumed on the ISS for the first time.  This is the first time any vegetable other than leafy greens have been grown and consumed in space.  Success here hold out hope that long term spaceflight can be at least partially sustained by in transit farming. I have questions

Story here.  This sounds amazing. And there isn’t any reason it shouldn’t work. A 400 times yield increase has to come with some sort of trade-off and I am wondering what it is.  If it is scalable, you certainly could all but eliminate hunger and the worry of over-population in the foreseeable future.

Seed terrorism?

Weird story here.  Most likely it is just an internet seller trying to boost their ratings on Amazon or eBay, but you can’t rule anything out when it comes to China.  Some were apparently sent to KY.

The reason for smaller government

We need a smaller federal government.  This story illustrates why.  Personally, I think drinking raw milk is dumb.  I think giving it to small children is even dumber.  However, people ought to have the right to do dumb stuff if they so chose.
