Wouldn’t it be funny

Wouldn’t it be funny if the problems in Venezuela caused problems in Cuba while Cuba tried to prop up Venezuela?  Could be happening.  I will be keeping an eye on this.

Not modeling related at all, but I love grilled cheese.  A nice article here on the best cheeses to use for grilled cheese.  Mmmmm. I’m hungry now.

Beer review: Schofferhofer

Schöfferhofer is a German product.  It is a combination of grapefruit juice and wheat beer.  I know what you are thinking.  Yuck.  But I have to admit I was surprised at how good it is.  I am not a huge grapefruit juice fan.  However, the wheat beer takes the bitterness of the juice away.  It is very refreshing.  Also, since it is only about 2% abv, you can drink it without much worry about its alcoholic effect.

@JVLast of The Weekly SubStandard recommended it.  He was right. Also, you should listen to the podcast.  It is great.

Yes, I use it and find it helpful.  No, I don’t generally take photos of my food and don’t review a restaurant while I am there. Story here.

A Cthulhu themed Thanksgiving turkey.  Dang, that is scary to look at, much less consider eating.  (h/t @Iowahawkblog)

Beer review: Sierra Nevada Kellerweis

Time for another beer review.  Surprise, surprise, its another wheat beer.  Its Sierra Nevada’s Kellerweis.  The beer is a pretty classic unfiltered wheat beer.  It is 4.8% ABV.  It has a very pleasant aroma.  Is smells strongly of banana and you get both a banana flavor and a hint of vanilla in the initial taste.  The manufacturer also notes a hint of cloves in the taste, but I did not get that until much later in the beer.

I’ve previously reviewed a banana flavored beer here.   As in that case, the banana flavor was good.  I had the beer with steak and rice and grilled veggies and it was good.  The brewer recommends having it with salmon or brats.  I am not sure about the salmon, but I can really see this one going very well with brats.

Beer review: Sweetwater Brewing Blue

Sweetwater brewing Blue

Sweetwater brewing Blue

Sweetwater brewing is an Atlanta brewery.  Blue is their blueberry wheat.  A 4.6% ABV.  A good beer.  The blueberry flavor is a bit strong, but not much.  Like most wheats, it was a nice, smooth drink.  I enjoyed it. I would drink it again.

Beer review: Hudepohl American Lager

IMAG0843I am not a fan of most American Lagers.  However, I couldn’t resist buying a bottle of this as it was one of my grandfather’s staple beers.  Hudepohl, or Hudey for short, was brewed in Cincinnati OH starting in 1885.  My grandfather drank it while fishing or listening to a Reds game.

As far as American Lagers go, it isn’t bad.  It has a very mild taste, but isn’t as flavorless as Bud or Miller.  It has no hoppy taste and seems to be very low in alcohol content.  I can see this as a decent summer beer for cookouts, etc.  While it might not be my first choice, it is worlds ahead of Bud or most of the other mass produced “rice beers”
