I have a fascination with the Me-163.  I was unaware that it was wind tunnel tested with canards.  However, apparently it was, though no prototype was built.  Now there is a resin conversion for that option.

A number of years ago I built an Me-163.  One thing I found out at the time was that there were almost no aftermarket decals for the Komet.  That appears to be changing.  Print Scale is releasing a sheet of decals for the 163. (among some others.)

Over the weekend, IPMS/Dayton held an invitational contest.  I was unable to attend, but Scott “Skippy” King took a couple of my models.  My Me-163B received a 3rd place award in 72nd scale Jets. (Yes, I know it isn’t a jet but a rocket fighter.)

Jim Bates attended and took this photograph.

This just proves that everything is on the net.  The last model I finished was in late 2007.  (I hope to change that soon as the Hunter is all but done.)  It was Academy’s Me-163B.  It was a lovely kit.  I recently came across this site, that is a great Me-163 resource.  I hope to build another Me-163 someday soon, so I have bookmarked the site.

Here is a photo of my 163:
