Friday was the MMCL “Friday Night Fights” club meeting. (A separate post on that soon.)  I took the Japanese truck and worked on it.  Then on Saturday I actually picked out a paint and got some on the wheel hubs.  The paint I picked is Colourcoats Ami-ero, which has a nice mustard yellow tint to it that I think will work well when I weather it.

Here is one of the wheels with the hub painted.  This will allow me to try out my Thinnerline cutter for the first time.

Date: 3/16/2018

Time 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. (1.0 hrs actual modeling time.)

2018 Total time: 25.63 hrs.

This was the MMCL quarterly Friday Night Fight build meeting.  While I was there for 3 hours, I only got in about an hour of actual modeling.  The rest of the time was spent visiting with friends and helping the younger modeldaughter with her modeling.

I worked exclusively on the Brengun MYX-7.  Most of the work was on the photoetch aftermarket seat and the kit wings.  Good progress was made.

My local IPMS chapter, MMCL held its February meeting last Thursday.  Sorry about taking so long to get this it.  The meeting was great.  If you have an IPMS chapter near you, I urge you to attend and join.  Also, join IPMS/USA.  This meeting we had a guest speaker who works for the Department of the Army, identifying and recovering remains of MIA soldiers.  It was an amazing talk.

Also, we had some great models brought in by the members.  Here are a few shots.

AB41 Finished

I am not sure when I started building the Italeri AB41 in 72nd scale.  I know it was several years ago.  This one was started for an MMCL  challenge build, but not finished in time.  It then languished on the Shelf of Doom.  I just recently dragged it on to the bench and finished it.  Honestly it didn’t take that much.  My build was far from perfect and this is the first armor kit I’ve finished in about 20 years.  I am not really happy with the result, but I’m not sad either.  I am happy to get one from the Shelf of Doom finished.

It is in the books.  Once again we were blessed by good weather and a good turn out.  228 models, down from 250 last year, but up from 205 the year before, so pretty on target.  Armor was down but sci-fi was up as was airliners.  Some photos below, focusing on 72nd scale, of course.

2016 Modeling report #3

Date: Jan. 9th, 2016

Time: 3.0 hrs

Yearly total: 4.87

Just like last year, I’ve gotten a fast start.  However, based on the last two years, I know it cannot last.  I am almost resigned to the fact.

Went to the MMCL shop in the morning with Natalie and got in a good hour of modeling, though between helping Natalie and shooting the breeze, I didn’t get as much done as I would have otherwise.  Mostly I worked on the 72nd scale RAF figures for my long planned Battle of France airfield diorama.

In the evening, I got two hours in, mostly working on the Airfix Hurricane.  I normally don’t use much photoetch, but on this kit I am using the Eduard precolored RAF seatbelts.

Date: August 29th, 2015

Time:  9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. (Time: 1.0 hrs)

Yearly total: 28.04 hrs

Was able to take my daughter Natalie to the club workshop on this Saturday morning.  She got a lot of work done on her old Pyro Hawker Hart and I did some work on the SBS Gladiator engine and on the Airfix Hawker Hurricane.  It felt good to model again.
