Movie traditions

I have several movies that I watch every year, each tied to a specific date or time of year.

Sometime between Thanksgiving and Christmas, I will watch National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation.

On or about June 6th each year I’ll watch The Longest Day. (Occasionally, I’ll watch Saving Private Ryan, but The Longest Day is the superior movie)

Sometime on the July 4th weekend, I will watch the musical 1776. (Without a doubt, the best Broadway musical)

What are your movie traditions?

Interesting discovery

An amazing discovery at a constructions site in NY.  It appears that the bodies of 11 patriots have been found, soldiers who served during the Revolutionary War.  The news report seems to indicate that it is being handled with the respect that the discovery deserves.

American history is filled with interesting stories.  I stumbled across this one recently.  Instead of another comic book movie, someone in Hollywood should turn this story into a movie.

Yesterday was the anniversary of the 1773 Boston Tea Party.  It was a study in both civil action and how unjust taxes can stir the populous to action.  Politicians today should take note.

I’d love a chance to get to see this ship.  Nice to see Layafette getting the respect he deserves from the French.
