First foreign Su-57 sale

Apparently the Algerians have signed a contract to buy 14 Su-57s.  This marks the first foreign sale of these aircraft.  Algeria has a very formidable air force for its size.  I can’t wait to see the camo.

Will Algeria become the first export customer for the Su-57?  If so, what does that say about the aircraft?

The Russian Air Force is about to receive its first production Su-57. (really its second, because the first one crashed)

Looks like the Russians have one less Felon. Given the cost, the Russians can ill afford this type of loss.

Russian Su-57 reversal

Russia, having previously announced that it was only going to buy 16 Su-57s (after India pulled out of a development deal), has now decided it will buy 76 of the fighters.  Given the reported problems with the aircraft, either they have been solved, or, more likely IMHO, this is more of Russia trying to saber-rattle and impress its neighbors.

It may be related to this, where Poland has announced plans to buy F-35s.

I am pretty sure I posted on this before, but it appears that the Russians will not be mass  producing the Su-57.  No matter how they try to spin it, this clearly indicates two things. 1. The Russians are broke. 2. The Su-57 was clearly not the world beater that its manufacturer claimed.

Su-57 combat deployment

It appears that Russia has deployed a couple of Su-57s to Syria for combat operational testing.  Russia appears to be using Syria as a testing ground, much like Germany and Italy did in Spain.  While the Su-57 won’t make much of a difference in ground attack operations, it is something that the US clearly has to consider their presence when operating strike aircraft over Syria.  This area is getting more tense every day.
