And why this may lead to it leaving NATO.  Turkey is making a mistake.  Pretty sure NATO will actually be better off with Turkey gone.

It is hard to keep track of them all.  Here it seems that Syrian and Russian a/c are attacking either Turkish units inside Syria or Turkish surrogates with Turkish supplied armor.  Great.  Just frikkin’ great.

They have started receiving S-400 SAMs from Russia.  This means they won’t be getting F-35s.  Frankly, given its current government, I don’t see Turkey staying in NATO.  I am not sure they were ever really a good fit to begin with.

Does Turkey want out of NATO?  It seems that way from this type of behavior.  Frankly, though it has a strategic location useful to the US for Mideast operations, I am not sure they are worth the trouble.  Not sure the Russians are thinking this one through either, as adding another majority Islamic nation to their orbit might not be wise given their internal troubles in the south of Russia.

An interesting article on Turkey’s acquisition of a new attack helicopter and some of the politics behind the decision on what to buy.

This is a tense spot in the world that is overshadowed by the Middle East and the Far East.  With turmoil in both Turkey and Greece, I wouldn’t be surprised to see more flair ups like this one.  Stay tuned.
