At least one B-1 has been given a red cockpit.  Story here.  (h/t to J.C. Bahr over on 72nd scale forum)

Looks like the USAF is testing a jet drone to operate along side conventional fighters.  Hmmm.

The Air Force, which just started taking deliveries of the KC-46 is now stopping, due to tools and trash being found in aircraft being delivered by Boeing.  This is stupid and Boeing needs to clean up its act (literally) ASAP!

Is this just straight up PR for the F-35?  Wonder what the true story is.  I do tend to believe that the F-35 may be more effective that was originally thought, as all new weapons systems have initial operational problems.

It looks like the USAF is actually going to buy 80 F-15Xs over the next 5 years.  This seems to make a lot of sense to me.  I suspect it will spur other countries who aren’t yet ready to upgrade to the F-35 to buy the F-15Xs.

Looks like the B-1 will be phased out as the B-21 comes online.  Meanwhile the B-52 will continue to soldier on until 2040.

Story here.  I am not above believing this is a cover story to convince Iran that the defection is real while actually planting a spy.  Interesting.

Is it a bad idea?

Is it a good idea?

Read both.  I tend to come down on the good idea side, but let me know what you think.

Boeing recently won the contract for the new USAF trainer.  Here is an article discussing whether or not the trainer will evolve into a lightweight fighter and attack aircraft a la the T-38/F-5.

Looks like per unit costs are falling again, to below $80M per unit starting next year.
