The X-37B spaceplane, that up until now has conducted missions so ultra secret, that nothing other than the launching and landing are ever reported, is currently conducting a flight where, for the first time, we know at least part of what it is doing. Story here. (Post in memory of Mike Nofsinger)

B-52s
No, not the musical group, the airplane. This article claims that there is now discussion of keeping the 52 in service thru 2097. That is crazy. However, a good re-engine followed by a complete software systems upgrade would surely make sense and could keep them flying thru at least the 2040s

I love Aggressor schemes
The folks at Nellis will be getting F-35s for an aggressor unit. Here are some proposed schemes for the aircraft. (h/t Stephen Lee)

AI in the USAF
Interesting story here about using an AI to fly a U-2. The mission wasn’t unmanned but the AI controlled the flight. An interesting step forward, especially with the “Loyal wingman” program advancing.

Power from space
This technology has been talked about in one form or another since the 70s. Interesting that they are finally getting around to experimenting with it. I am still skeptical of its practicality. (Post in memory of Mike Nofsinger)

Something mysterious was spotted in the sky out west recently. Story here. Not sure if it is an RQ-180, but it is very interesting.

A new US fighter?
It appears the US has build and flown the prototype of its next generation fighter. Frankly, I didn’t see this happening for another 5 years or so. (h/t to Jim Bates)

Wolfpack F-5E/F
While Dream Models has recently released an F-5, I am intrigued by the forthcoming kit from Wolfpack. It appears they will be providing more options at a much cheaper price.

Close encounter
Looks like a couple of Russian pilots got a little frisky. Next time the USAF ought to have a couple of F-22s in trail. Also, the camo on those Su-27s looks a little grayer than usual, but that could just be the film.
