The downside of the Internet
I love the internet. In fact, I am so use to it, I can’t imagine how we ever got along without it. However, it does have a few downsides. One of these is that people seem to think that anything they see on the internet can simply be copied and used without attribution.
Here is a prime example. Rick Roberts simply copied and pasted into his own blog the work of another, claiming it as his own. The original was the work of the genius of satire, Iowahawk. Here is the original on Iowahawk’s site. This is simply wrong. Rick Roberts should be ashamed. Even after being called out, he has refused to take down the post or give proper credit for it. Shame!

Hawker Hunter Done
Well, sort of. I still need to add the nav. lights to the top of the wings. Other than that, here it is.

Heard of this book?
I have seen reference to it, but have never seen the book. Has anyone out there read it?

New modeling possibilities
The Russians just announced that they were going to supply, free of charge, 10 MiG-29 fighters to Lebanon. Read about it here.
Display Teams
I like display team aircraft. One of these days I would like to build a series of display team aircraft. More photos like this might prompt me to do so.

This is funny (and sad)
I don’t do politics, but this is funny. It is the best explanation I have heard of the current government strategy for fixing the economy. And it sounds so nice coming from Fred Thompson. He has a way of making it sound logical.
Modeling update
OK, the weekend wasn’t a complete waste as far as modeling is concerned. I am building the Fujimi 1/350th scale Maru-yu 1001 submarine for a review for IPMS/USA. I got a little work done on it, mostly relating to using Mr. Surfacer to fill the gaps where the deck meets the hull.
I’ve found precious little on this sub. They were built by the Japanese Army (yes, Army) to supply cut off garrisons. Here is one of the few photos I’ve found.

This link give you the basic information on this class of submarine.

Weekend Update
The title of this post is a homage to the old SNL feature when Dennis Miller was with the cast. IMHO, SNL and in particular, Weekend Update have never been the same.
Not much on the modeling front. This tends to be a bad time of year for modeling, with all the holiday hooha and such. BTW, Happy Festivus guys. As a friend noted, the airing of grievences is liable to take a while this year.
Did Christmas shopping this year. Spent time in Target, which I haven’t done in years, ever since they banned the Salvation Army bell ringers from their stores. I actually made purchases there, I am sad to say.
Overall, I noticed that, unlike prior years, things were noticeably more quiet in the stores I visited. I do think the economy has slowed, much more than we may have been led to believe.
Weather was warm this weekend, but they are forecasting snow for today. We will see.
